Molly McCann’s UFC debut is off to a shaky start.
The former Cage Warriors champion failed to make weight on her first attempt at Saturday’s weigh-ins for UFC Liverpool. McCann is a native of the English city and she was booked to fight Gillian Robertson on Sunday’s preliminary card.
On her first attempt, McCann stepped onto the scale with a towel, but eventually stripped down and made use of the hoop for her official check. Her weight on this attempt was 127 pounds, one over the women’s flyweight limit (including a one-pound allowance).
Officials announced that McCann would have an extra hour to make the weight, but on her second attempt, McCann again came in at 127 pounds. No words was given on the status of her bout with Robertson, who successfully weighed in at 125 pounds.
Should Robertson accept the bout, it is likely she will receive a portion of McCann’s purse.
