UNDEFEATED Filipino boxer John Vincent “Mulawin” Moralde of Davao City is now ready to fight the dangerous reigning WBA-NABA featherweight champion Toka Kahn “T Nice” Clary on December 1 at the Strand Ballroom and Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
It will be Moralde’s debut in the United States since he went to Miami, Florida to train under Cuban coach Moro Fernandez early this year.
“Excited na kaayo ko mudula kay dugay dugay na pud ko wala ka dula,” (I’m already very excited to fight since it’s been a long time now that I did not have a fight) said Moralde in a Facebook chat message.
The 23-year old Moralde arrived in the US together with his teammate Reymart “Gensan Assassin” Gaballo five months ago.
Gaballo (17W, 0L, 15KOs) already made a successful debut last Nov. 15 by stopping Mexican
Ernesto Guerrero via a 2nd round TKO at the Hawaii Events Center in Honolulu.
“Now it’s John Vincent Moralde’s turn to make his debut. He’s now ready to fight,” said manager Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, chief executive officer of Sanman Promotions.
Moralde last fought on Feb. 26 with a 3rd round technical knockout win against former PBF champion Philip Parcon at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City.
“My condition has always been OK. I’ve been sparring with my teammates at the gym including against a two-time Olympian French boxer,” said Moralde, who has a clean record of 19 straight wins with 10 knockouts.
The 25-year old Clay (23W-1L-0D, 16KOs), on the other hand, previously scored a 2nd round TKO win against David Berna last October 19 at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta to capture the vacant WBA-NABA featherweight title.
Clay’s lone defeat was a first round knockout against Filipino fighter Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino of Lipa City last Sept. 23, 2016 at the Osceola Heritage in Kissimmee. (LITO DELOS REYES)
