MORALDE, PLANIA TO SHOW WARES FEB. 26 IN GENSAN

 

John Vincent “Mulawin” Moralde is eyeing for his 19th win on Feb. 26.

GENERAL Santos City — Undefeated boxers John Vincent ‘Mulawin” Moralde (18-0, 9 KOs) and “Magic” Mike Plania (13-0 6 KOs) both of Sanman Stable are also seeing action in the undercard of the “Laban Pinoy 3: Rise of Champions” this Sunday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Lagao Gym here.

Moralde, reigning W0rld Boxing Federation (WBF) International featherweight champion, is facing former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight champion Philip Parcon (26-22-3, 8 KOs) of Davao City in a non-title bout.

“I can’t take Parcon lightly since he is a veteran and also a former champion. He also has lots of tricks and will try to break your style,” said Moralde.

The 22-year old Moralde previously scored a first round knockout against Joas Apericio last December 4 at the Robinson’s Mall Atrium in General Santos City.

Parcon’s last victory was a unanimous decision against Renante Suacasa at the Buhangin Gym in Davao City in 2013. (OPTIONAL TO INCLUDE OR NOT TO)

Both Moreno and Parcon are southpaws.

Plania, on the other hand, is fighting former PBF light flyweight champion Jetly Purisima (21-21-1, 6 KOs) of Surallah, South Cotabato for 8 rounds.

The 20-year old Plania, a former WBF International bantamweight title holder, previously won by a 2nd knockout on JP Macadumpis also last Dec. 4.

Plania and Moreno are both slated to train already with Cuban coach Moro Hernandez in Miami, USA this year.

Their fellow stablemate Randy “Razor” Petalcorin, a former world champion will also see action against light flyweight Mark Anthony Florida for 8 rounds.

The other undercard bouts will have flyweight Jayson Mama against Jeffrey Alejandre (8 rds.), lightweight Ernie Sanchez against Richard Betos (6 rds.), and lightweight Ou Yuzhua of China against Holly Quinones of Gensan (4 rds.).

The “Laban ng Pinoy 3: Rise of Champions” is presented by the Sanman Promotions and Solar Sports as part of the Kalilangan Festival of the city government of Gensan.

It will have four championship fights featuring undefeated Jade Bornea (6-0, 4 KOs) of Sanman-Amoy Stable against Raul “Vulcan” Yu (9-1-2-8 KOs) of ALA Stable-Cebu for the vacant IBF World Youth super flyweight in the main event.

Former WBC International Silver super featherweight champion Eden “Sanman” Sonsona (35-6-2, 12 KOs) will take on Jovanny Rota (9-9-6 KOs) of Butuan City for the vacant WBF International super featherweight crown.

Lolito Sonsona (20-1-4-9 KOs) will trade punches with former Philippine light flyweight champion Renren “Rainman” Tesorio (15-9-3-4 KOs) of Manila for the vacant WBF Asia super flyweight crown.

Ben Mananquil (12-1-2-, 3KOs) will go up against former WBO Asia Pacific Youth bantamweight champion Glenn “The Rock” Porras (29-5-0, 17 KOs) from North Cotabato for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International bantamweight title.

The official weigh-in will be held on Feb. 25 at 12 noon at the Sydney Hotel according to promoter Dexter “Wangyu” Tan, chief finance officer of Sanman Promotions.

There will also be 20 amateur bouts to raise the curtain at 1 p.m. The boxing show is sponsored by the city government of Gensan, Mt. Sabrina Resort, Barberlife and Amoy Promotions. Admission is free to the public
