In his short time with the UFC, Darren Till has built up an impressive resume of in-cage rivals. However, it’s a personality from outside the cage that is currently ruffling his feathers.
Till took his first loss in 19 pro bouts on Saturday, losing by second-round submission to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 228 in Dallas. While the two were mostly respectful towards one another in the lead-up to and aftermath of the fight, the same can’t be said for celebrity MMA fan Snoop Dogg.
The 46-year-old rapper is known to share clips on social media of himself watching fights and he had a lot to say during Woodley’s impressive win over Till.
Warning: Video contains explicit language
In the short clip, Snoop Dogg can be seen using some colorful, racially charged language to describe Woodley’s performance. He seems to have animosity towards Darren Till, shouting for the champion to beat his “motherf**king ass” among other things. Snoop Dogg also confusingly starts to shout “f**k Donald Trump”, which suggests that he may be confusing Till with another Woodley nemesis, Colby Covington.
Covington is a known supporter of president Trump and has publicly challenged and aimed insults at Woodley on multiple occasions. Till, on the other hand, is an Englishman who does not appear to have any particular affiliation with Trump.
Whatever reason Snoop Dogg had for going after Till, the 25-year-old title challenger didn’t take the insult lying down. In his first Instagram post following the loss, he made sure to include Snoop Dogg in the message.
“Snoop Dogg, you’re a f**king bitch,” Till wrote. “F**k you!”
This isn’t the first time Snoop Dogg has run afoul of a UFC fighter. The promotion previously employed him as one-half of the “SnoopCast” broadcast team alongside Urijah Faber to provide an alternate commentary track for the first season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Several fighters voiced their displeasure at what they perceived to be disrespectful behavior on the part of Snoop Dogg when talking about fights and the UFC’s athletes. He would not return for season two.
There’s plenty of time for Till and Snoop Dogg to patch things up, but the multiple-time Grammy award nominee may want to bring extra protection the next time he’s performing in Liverpool.
