GL: How is everything going in preparation for your September 15th bout vs Andrew Rogers? Everything is going good my man, it’s been great. I’m putting that work in. I don’t know much about my opponent, I know he’s 4-2 and never been stopped before and that’s about it. I saw a little clip of him fighting, but not too much.
GL: How do you you feel about fighting so close to home again?
Mykquan Williams: “It feels great, it always feels great to fight at home because my support system is great over here.”
GL: What do you hope a victory over Rogers will lead to?
MW: “Just bigger and better things in the near future.”
GL: Are you happy with your activity in 2017? Would have liked to fight more often?
MW: “I always want to fight as much as I can, but I really can’t complain. I’ve had a good amount of fights in a short time, hopefully I can get to 10-0 by the end of this year or early next year.”
GL: How many more six rounders before you step it up to eights?
MW: “I leave that to my manager, I know him and my promoter are working on that, but maybe two or three more six rounders, we’ll see. I’m ready to do whatever they think is best for me.”
GL: When you’re fighting a guy who has never been stopped does it make you want to go after the stoppage more or do you go in there with the sense that you’re going to go the distance so it’s just about executing what you’ve worked on in the gym?
MW: “I’m not going to be looking for any knockout, if it comes I’ll take it but I’m more than prepared to go the six rounds. My only prediction for this fight is I’m going to win and put on a good show for the fans.”
GL: Is there anything you’d like to say in closing?
MW: “Just continue to support the movement and support team Williams. I appreciate everybody for their support.”
