BRUTAL SLUGGER JUNTO NAKATANI SET TO DEFEND WBO 115 WORLD TITLE AGAINST LITTLE KNOWN MEXICAN CHALLENGER ARGI CORTES SEP 18 IN TOKYO, JAPAN
Story Written by Fightnews ASIA.
SUPER HEAVY-HITTER World Champion Junto Nakatani 中谷潤人 (25-0, 21 KO’s), the exciting Japanese rising-star who has easily knocked out Filipinos boxers Giemel Magramo, Philip Cuerdo, Dexter Alimento, Jeronil Borres, Joel Taduran, and Milan Melindo, is ready and willing to make the 4th defense of his WBO Super Flyweight World Title.
The 25-year-old Nakatani – who last May knocked out Andrew Moloney – will defend against little known Mexican challenger Argi Cortes (25-3-2, 10 KO’s) from Ciudad de Mexico on Tuesday, September 18, at the famous Ariake Sport Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
It will be the very first time in his 30-fight career that Argi Cortes, 28, fights outside of his beloved Mexico. Will that affect him, would he get butterflies in his tommie on fight night?
Cortes has a very tough job ahead of him. Lets see how he does when the first bell sounds and he has Nakatani throwing blows at him.
The really heavy-handed southpaw from Sagamihara-shi in the Kanagawa Prefecture is so widely expected by boxing fans to stop his Mexican challenger as he has knocked out his previous three challengers, will that happen?
Likely yes, perhaps 70-30 chances that the local Nakatani retains, although in boxing we never know… plus Mexicans fighters are among the strongest, toughest warriors anyone could face. They have heart of lions, correct? So lets wait and see.
In addition, Nakatani wants to impress boxing fans in a big way again as his ultimate goal as a boxer is to face Mexican veteran warrior Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada (44-3, 28 KO’s).
This fight is really thrilling, fans want to watch it.
However, interestingly, Nakatani vs Cortes is not the main event, but the show’s co-feature.
The main event is the WBA/WBC Light Flyweight world title defense of “The Amazing Boy” Kenshiro Teraji (21-1, 13 KO’s), against South African 35-year-old veteran warrior former champ Hekkie Butler (35-4, 11 KO’s) of Johannesburg.
That is not all. Because Pinoy slugger Giemel “Pistolero” Magramo (28-3, 23 KO’s), of Parañaque, Metro Manila, will see action in this show in one of the supporting bouts. Good for Magramo!
Magramo, 28, will be trading blows against less-experienced Mexican-American Anthony “Princesa” Olascuaga (5-1, 3 KO’s).
Will Nakatani and Kenshiro retain? Or will Cortes and Butler become the new? How will “The Pistolero” do against “The Princesa”?
The interesting world-title double header show: Nakatani vs Cortes, Kenshiro vs Butler, plus Magramo vs “Princesa” is another production of 75-year-old Japanese Hall-of-Fame promoter Mr. Akihiko Honda 本田 明彦, owner of Tokyo’s Teiken Promotions.
