NATUPLAG SCORES 3RD KNOCKOUT WIN

MANILA (Sept. 8) —  Promising bantamweight prospect KJ “Matumbo”Natuplag of Banawe, Ifugao remained undefeated by knocking out Jeric Potaso of Batangas in the first round of a six-rounder bout held recently at the SMX Convention Center of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The 17-year old Natuplag from the Highlands Boxing Gym of La Trinidad, Benguet landed a left-right combination to knockout Potaso. It was Natupblag’s third straight win and knockout against no loss or draw.  Potaso of Touch Gloves Stable suffered his second loss against two wins.

“May lakas talaga ang batang ito. Malaki ang pag-asa niyang mag champion,” said Natuplag’s former trainer Roilo Golez.

In his pro debut, Natuplag also knocked out Oscar Lim in the third round on December 19, 2015 at the Lagawe Gym in Lagawe, Ifugao.

The 5-foot-6 Natuplag then scored a second round technical knockout win against Jessie Lou Omac last April 9 at the St. Louis Antamok High School ground in Itogon, Ifugao.

Natuplag will next see action on October 22 in Baguio City according to his manager Brico Santig.

“We will soon announce his opponent,” said Santig.

The bout was one of the boxing matches included in the Philippine Fitness and Wellness Expo. – LITO DELOS REYES
