Natuplag wins WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title

DUBAI – based KJ “The Ipugo” Natuplag stopped Attanon “Kongthara KKP” Kunlawong of Thailand in the 2nd round to win the World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council featherweight title last June 24 in Dubai.

Natuplag first knocked down Kunlawong early in the 2nd round with a right. He again sent down Kunlawong in the same round that forced the referee to finally stop the fight.

Natuplag, who is from Lagawe, Ifugao, now has 10 wins with nine knockouts against three loses and two draws while the Thai boxer suffered his seventh loss against 17 wins with one draw.

Meanwhile, Joepher Montano retained his Asian Boxing Federation super lightweight title by a technical knockout over Ari Agustian of Indonesia in the 1st round in the main event.

Filipino Rey Villar, who is now based in Dubai, stopped Daniel Ssebunya of Uganda in the 2nd round while Adkay Rodriguez of Cuba knocked out Lawrence Ssekata of Uganda in the 1st round.

The boxing event was promoted by Alessio Bussiti with Brico Santig as the matchmaker.
