NICARAGUA’S PRESIDENT AWARDS FÉLIX “TITO” TRINIDAD THE ORDER OF ALEXIS ARGÜELLO

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega presented  former and forever great world boxing champion Felix “Tito” Trinidad of Puerto Rico, with the “Alexis Argüello” Sports Excellence Medal.

The Nicaraguan President presented the recognition during the Best  of Nicargaun Sports awards ceremony of Nicaragua, an event dedicated to former world champion Rosendo “Búfalo” Álvarez.

Ortega emphasized that Trinidad is one of the most admired athletes in Nicaragua.

“Tito” Trinidad was one of the most outstanding fighters of his era, which led him to be inducted in the  Boxing Hall of Fame in 2013.

“Tito” Trinidad attended as a special guest to the ceremony. During this event,  the four-time world boxing champion, Roman ‘Chocolatito’ González,  was also honored, but unfortunately he could not attend due to his upcoming fight.

‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez, won Athlete of the Year 2016 from the Association of Sports Writers of Nicaragua.

Gonzalez, 29,  became WBC super flyweight champion last September,  for being the first four-times world champion in the country. HE was unanimously elected athlete of the year for the third consecutive year by Nicaraguan sports journalists.

‘Chocolatito’, originally from Managua, became the first four-time champion of Nicaragua in 2016 and sixteenth champion in the history of boxing in that country.
