CONOR BENN produced another show-stopping knockout to add to his growing catalogue shortly before Amir Khan followed suit, dispatching of Phil Lo Greco in just 40 seconds in the main event.
The 21-year-old, who had just 20 amateur fights before turning pro, has emerged as a fan favourite after signing with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sports, racking up nine thrilling stoppage victories in two years.
In December, he triumphed in one of the fights of the year, battling back from two knockdowns and the brink of defeat against Frenchman Cedrick Peynaud to win on the judges scorecards.
Benn stopped welterweight journeyman Chris Truman in four rounds
And speaking to iFL TV alongside his dad after the fight, Benn explained why he is happy to remain patient in learning his trade.
“People want to try and rush me but it would be good to have four fights this year and take my time to become a man,” he said.
“I don’t want to be 21 or 22 and still have learning, I want each fight to show drastic improvement.
“I just want to take my time and learn and grow. When I’m 24 years old with a record of 20-0 then I’ll be ready.
Benn was forced to dig deep in a thrilling victory over Cedrick Peynaud last year
“Yep,” dad Nigel chipped in.
“When I first fought Eubank, I got £400,000 the first fight. When I lost, it went down to £35,000. That is a big drop.”
Benn and Eubank fought twice in one of the most memorable rivalries in British boxing history during the early 1990s.
Eubank stopped Benn in the first fight, at the NEC Centre in Birmingham on 18 November 1990, before the pair duked out a thrilling draw in the rematch at Old Trafford on 9 October 1993.
