PRESS RELEASE

Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 KOs) will face Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 KOs) of Londerzeel, Vlaams Brabant, Belgium for the vacant WBO FEMALE WORLD SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT BELT on Saturday, May 12.

In August, Adler was “disappointed about losing a fight (to Claressa Shields)” and cited that she“had no strength and felt fatigued” in the fight. Nonetheless, she was gracious in defeat.

Never truly feeling dejected, Adler changed much in her life to dedicate herself to the sport again, to regain her status in the Super Middleweight division.

“America has opened my eyes and I am still doing my homework for the next championship”, claimed Adler. “We are planning a big Homecoming to get back the crown. I have a new trainer, followed the advice quitting my Job and focus only on Boxing to come back stronger.”

Curt Frenzel Stadion, in Adler’s hometown of Augsberg, Bavaria, Germany – the home arena of the Augsburger Panther ice hockey team – will host it’s first ever world boxing championship on Saturday, May 12th.

Adler is training hard for it with successful coach Roman Anuchin in Allicante, Spain. Anuchin trained Mairis Briedis in his hard-fought, extremely competitive World Boxing Super Series Semi-final and WBC & WBO Cruiserweight Unification match with Oleksandr Usyk in January.

Earlier this month, Hermans, like Adler in 2017, traveled to the US for a world championship bout. Hermans fell short on the scorecards in New York, defeated by Unanimous Decision to highly-ranked, hard-hitting Alicia Napoleon for the vacant WBA Championship.

This is not the first world championship match for either, but only one will claim the belt on May 12th.
