It won’t be long before we see Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez make their ONE Championship debuts.
ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced Thursday that there are dates and locations for the tournaments that the recently signed former UFC champions are expected to make their first in-cage appearances for the company.
The ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix will begin on Feb. 22 in Singapore, and the ONEFlyweight World Grand Prix will begin on March 31 in Tokyo.
A field for the tournaments has yet to be announced, but Johnson and Alvarez are expected to be part of the lightweight and flyweight brackets, respectively.
Earlier this week, ONE reached a deal with Turner Sports that will see the Singapore-based promotion’s cards air on the B/R Live streaming service, with additional programming on TNT. The Grand Prix tournaments could be a major part of ONE’s U.S. launch, which begins in January.
