ONE Championship is back in Malaysia this Friday, 12 July with a stunning card of elite martial arts action.
ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY will take place inside Kuala Lumpur’s Axiata Arena and it features some of the best athletes from mixed martial arts, Muay Thai and kickboxing on the 15-bout bill.
Of the 30-strong cast in action, there are 11 World Champions from a variety of disciplines – a number that no other martial arts event will come close to this month.
Giorgio Petrosyan
Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan carries the unofficial title of pound-for-pound best kickboxer of his generation, and that is backed up by the accolades he has won in the ring.
These include two K-1 World MAX Tournament Titles, as well as World Title belts from ISKA, W5, WMC, and Kombat League.
Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy
Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy is one of the rare nak muay to have won Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Titles in two divisions.
The surging Thai is also the WMC Muay Thai World Champion, and he hopes to take one step closer to the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Title when he meets Petrosyan in a rematch on Friday.
Angela Lee
“Unstoppable” Angela Lee was a pankration World Champion before she made the switch to mixed martial arts.
She went on to earn superstar status when she defeated Mei Yamaguchi to become the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion in 2016 – making her the youngest World Champion in mixed martial arts history – and she has successfully defended her belt three times since.
Michelle Nicolini
Michelle Nicolini is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners to ever don the gi. She has eight Mundials World Titles in the black belt division, and she is also a four-time No-Gi BJJ World Champion, and an ADCC gold medalist.
She plans to use her submission prowess in the ring against Lee in KL, and she has submitted her former Evolve teammate in competition before, so their strawweight match-up should be very intriguing.
Daichi Abe
Japanese athlete Daichi Abe won the Pancrase Welterweight World Championship in his homeland thanks to his powerful striking.
He hopes to move closer to ONE gold when he takes on one of the lightweight division’s most established names in Ev “E.T.” Ting.
Jihin Radzuan
Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan has earned a reputation for her phenomenal grappling since she began her mixed martial arts career, but she is more accomplished as a striker – and she has a Wushu World Championship to prove it.
The Malaysian hero will take on Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres in front of her countrymen on Friday.
Hiroki Akimoto
Hiroki Akimoto entered the world of kickboxing after a successful career in karate, during which he earned the WFKO Karate World Title.
The Evolve representative is now honing his skills for ONE Super Series with some of the greatest Muay Thai World Champions in his new Singapore home, and he will hope to bring this to bear against Kenny “The Pitbull” Tse in their flyweight contest.
Chuang Kai Ting
“Killer Bee” Chuang Kai Ting became the first ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion when she defeated Yodcherry Sityodtong with a commanding performance in her promotional debut.
The Chinese superstar will begin her journey back to the belt against Janet “JT” Todd inside the Axiata Arena.
George Mann
Scotland’s George Mann lives halfway across the world from his homeland, but he has found success as a WMC Muay Thai World Champion out of Riddlers Gym in Perth, Australia.
The 21-year-old stands out as one of the tallest competitors in the world’s largest martial arts organization, and he is hoping to claim his first victory as a ONE Super Series athlete on 12 July.
Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy
Like many of the athletes in his gym – including one of the stars of ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY’s main event – Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy is a decorated athlete in “the art of eight limbs.”
The man from Bangkok is a Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, and he wants to show why against Mann when they face off in Malaysia.
Josh Tonna
Josh “Timebomb” Tonna has entertained the crowds in the world’s largest martial arts organization with some thrilling performances, and the Australian slugger has the skills to go with his heart as an ISKA K-1 World Champion.
He will open up the card in a potential thriller against debuting Japanese standout Yoshihisa “Mad Dog” Morimoto.
