JAI Opetaia and Benjamin Kelleher, both unbeaten boxers will be facing each other for the IBF Pan Pacific cruiserweight title on January 17 at the Star City Hotel and Casiino in Pyrmonts, New South Wales, Australia.
The 22-year old Opetaia of Sydney is still undefeated with 13 straights wins and 10 by knockouts. The 6-foot-2 southpaw is a former IBF Youth, OPBF and Australan cruiserweight champion.
He won the vacant IBF Youth crown by stopping in the first round Frankie Lopez last October 12 at the Melbourne Park. He also took both the vacant OPBF and Australian titles via a 9th round TKO win overDaniel Ammann last July 15 at Wests City Club in Newcastle West.
Kelleher (7W-0L-2D, 4 KOs), on the other hand, has won his last four fights, two by knockouts. He previously scored a unanimous decision against Nikolas Charalamapous last December 2 at the Mansfield Tavern, Mansfield.
Two separate championship fights will also be held in the same promotion of Matthew Rose of No Limit Boxing Promotions.
Anthony Mundine (47W-8L-0D) battles Tommy Browne (35W-6L-2D) for the vacant WBO Oriental middleweight title while Kye MacKenzie (18W-1L-0D) takes on Emiliano Martin Garcia (16W-1L-0D) for the interim WBO Asia Pacific lightweight crown.
