Anabel Ortiz will step into the ring next Saturday in Mexico City to defend her World Boxing Association minimum weight belt against her compatriot Nancy Franco.
Over the last y years, Ortiz has demonstrated she dominates the division, and will try to retain her title for the ninth time. This will be the Champion’s first defense of the year against an experienced opponent who has been in the ring with elite world boxers.
The Wasp (Avispa) won the title in July 2013 in Japan and has managed 12 triumphs, eight of them with the championship belt on the line.
Ortiz has been the WBA minimum weight champion before and her record is 24-3, 4 ko’s. While Franco’s record is 17-10-2, 5 ko’s.
