Legendary retired multi-division world champion Oscar De La Hoya reiterates one more time that he wants to fight again.
He has said the same countless times, but he never comes back.
But in a new interview on ESPN, De La Hoya, now 47-years, assures from his heart that he misses being in the ring, that he LOVES boxing and that boxing has given him everything he owes today.
An Olympic gold medalist in Barcelona 1992 and an inspiration for many, Oscar De La Hoya does not fight since his 2008 “Dream Fight” rumble against Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao.
That battle was 12 years ago it was a super exciting clash that I attended at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas USA with my dear old friend Gerry Peñalosa and his beautiful wife Goody.
It turned out to be one unforgettable, awesome evening for the Pacman and for Filipino boxing.
But not for Oscar.
The great Oscar De la Hoya did not look good at all on that evening in 2008. He was slow, confused, and overwhelmed. Would Oscar be BETTER than that in 2020?
— I think we all know the answer to that.
Still, if Oscar comes back to fight again, let’s wish him the VERY best of luck. Because he still is and for always will be a boxing idol.
