JAPANESE Hidenori Otake landed more punches to beat Jilbert Gomera of General Santos City to capture the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super bantamweight title last March 17 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Judges Yuji Fukuchi of Japan and Ferdinand Estrella of the Philippines both scored 115-112 while judge Pinit Prayadsab of Thailand saw it 116-112 for a unanimous decision win by Otake.
It was the 28th win against two losses and three draws for the 35-year old Otake while Gomera, also reigning Philippine Boxing Federation featherweight champion suffered only his 2nd defeat against 12 wins.
The 12-round championship fight was promoted by Kentaro Kaneko Promotions and supervised by OPBF president Juan Ramon Guanzon.
