The vacant WBC bantamweight title bout between Nordine Oubaali and Rau’shee Warren, which you all know was booked for December 22nd because this was our last story before we all left for Thanksgiving, has a new home. L’Equipe reports that the fight will now take place on the January 19th Pacquiao-Broner card in Las Vegas, becoming the second confirmed bout of the undercard alongside Badou Jack-Marcus Browne.
This seems to be a good deal for everyone involved. The fight was originally an untelevised prelim on a PBC tripleheader, receiving lower billing than Dominic Breazeale. It’s now presumably part of a major pay-per-view and allows Oubaali’s brother and coach, Ali, to corner 2016 Olympic lightweight gold medalist Estelle Mossely on the 22nd.
As a random note, I found out that Mossely has a son with teammate and fellow gold medalist Tony Yoka. Now there’s some quality biffin’ genes.
We’ll keep you guys posted as/if the undercard continues to grow.
