Per a report by RingTV, junior welterweight Pablo Cesar Cano (30-7-1, 21 KOs) has just been scheduled to take on Ruslan Madiev (12-0, 5 KOs) in a Golden Boy card that will air on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes on September 13th, live from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Cano, 28, is most recently coming off a poor 2017 when he lost consecutive fights — dropping a split decision to Fidel Maldonado Jr. and then getting knocked out by Marcelino Lopez in October. Cano has gone 2-3 in his last five outings.
“I am very happy to be back in an important main event on ESPN,” said Cano, whose last win was by split decision over Mauricio Herrera in November 2016. “I’m going into this fight with hunger for victory and a desire to vindicate myself against a good fighter like Ruslan Madiev. I have no doubt that our styles will mesh well to give a great fight.”
His opponent, Madiev, 25, hails from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, the same hometown as Gennady Golovkin who will be fighting just two days after Madiev. And like Golovkin, Madiev also trains in Big Bear under the guidance of Abel Sanchez. He expresses his eagerness to perform well in this outing.
“I’m very excited to fight in Las Vegas on such a massive weekend for boxing and look forward to testing myself against Pablo Cesar Cano,” said Madiev. “I’ve been training hard in Big Bear and will be prepared for victory on Sept. 13.”
In the co-feature Maricela Cornejo (12-2, 5 KOs) and Franchon Crews (3-1, 1 KO) will go head-to-head in a scheduled 10-rounder. There will also be a scheduled 6-rounder between welterweights Raul Curiel (4-0, 3 KOs) and Ryan Pino (8-2, 4 KOs) to open the show.
