PADUA, WATANABE MAKE WEIGHTS IN JAPAN

UNDISPUTED Philippine welterweight champion Dennis Padua and Japanese Akinori Watanabe both make their weights today (Nov. 3) for their 8-rounder fight tomorrow at the Korakuen Hal in Japan.
Padua, who already moved up to the higher division submitted 154 lbs. while Watanabe tipped the scales at 153 lbs.
Padua (11W-12L-2D, 6 KOs) is accompanied by his trainer Ninolito Jalnaiz and manager Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Gym.
“Medyo mabigat ang kalaban at dehado tayo. Pero pag tumama din ang suntok ni Dennis may pupuntahan kalaban niya,” said Jalnaiz.
Watanabe has 34 wins with 29 knockouts against only six losses and no draw.
The 32-year old Watanabe previously won by a second technical knockout against Maxi Nahak last May 8 at the Korakuen Hall. If Watanabe wins against Padua, he will challenge the undefeated WBO International super welterweight champion Magomed Kurrbanov on December 15 in DIVS, Ekaterinburg.
Padua, 33, retained his Philippine welterweight crown by stopping Prabhjot Singh by a 4th round knockout last February 11 in Mandaluyong City in his previous outing. (LITO DELOS REYES)
