Paige VanZant is set to make her women’s flyweight debut.
The 23 year old will fight Jessica Eye in an 125-lb bout at UFC 216, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Oct. 7. Following an initial report by Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the match was added to the official event page.
This will be the first flyweight appearance in the Octagon for both competitors, and their first fights in 2017.
VanZant (7-3) is currently mired in a 1-2 slump that has seen a knockout win over Bec Rawlingssandwiched by submission losses to Michelle Waterson and Rose Namajunas. She will be moving up from the 115-lb weight class.
On the other side, Eye (12-5, 1 no contest) will be dropping down from the women’s bantamweight division to compete at 125 pounds, which she had done several times before joining the UFC in 2013. “Evil” Eye has a 1-5 record (excluding one no-contest) in six UFC appearances, with all of those losses coming by way of decision.
