Pakistan will scribe itself in the boxing world history as it will host its very first professional boxing event scheduled on October 3 under British Pakistan boxing legend Amir Khan to be headlined by undefeated Pakistani Usman Wazeer, who will see action against tough and veteran Boido Simanjuntak of Indonesia for the Asian Boxing Federation welterweight title.
Usman who comes in with three wins and no losses is Pakistan’s number one contender for the title after getting his first win Dubai and the other two in the Philippines. Albeit Simanjuntak is an experienced person with 81 fights, the ABF is confident this is going to be an even match as it will be overseen by Abdul Rasheed Baloch, the president of Pakistan Boxing Council along with the seasoned officiating officials Kaleem Ahmed Azad, Rehman Saeed khan, Ejaz David, Muhammad Farooq, and Shariq Nazir. The fight was sanctioned by the head office in Thailand headed by Naris Singwangcha ABF president.
Meanwhile, promoter Amir Khan will be the first to promote a professional fight in Pakistan and will be covered by PTV live. Khan is one of Great Britain’s famous boxers as he was the youngest Olympic medalist when he bagged the silver at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. Khan is also the co-owner of the Super Fight League MMA and Super Boxing League in India.
