DEFENDING NABF super flyweight champion Aston Palicte of the Philippines and his Mexican challenger Jose Alfredo Rodriguez both made their weights for their championship fight on December 8, Saturday at the Round Rock Sports Center in Round Rock, USA.
Palicte (23W, 2L-0D, 19 KOs) from Bago City will be defending his NABF super flyweight belt he won by beating Oscar Cantu of Texas via a hard fought split decision at The Tent at Downtown Las Vegas.
Palicte, now ranked no. 4 by WBO, is trained by Rodel “Batang Mandaue” Mayol and conditioned by Stanley Godinez.
José Alfredo RodrÃguez (32-5-0, 19KO), on the other hand, held the WBA light flyweight interim title from 2011 to 2012. He lost to Milan Melindo for the WBO International Super flyweight crown and later to Jerwin Ancajas for the IBF Super Flyweight title.
The Palicte-Rodriguez title fight, which is promoted by Roy Jones Promotions will be held at the Round Rock Sports Center along Chisholm Trail Road in this city. It will be shown live on beINSports TV.
