INDONESIAN Defry “The Unseen Hammer” Palulu captured the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council super featherweight title infront of his fellow countrymen after stopping his Filipino rival Nathan Bolcio via a technical decision in the 5th round last Saturday at the Cendrawasih Sports Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Referee Sumardi Sumardi stopped the fight in 2:45 of the 5th round after Palulu was already unfit to continue due to a nasty cut on the eyebrow inflicted by Bolcio’s right cross.

“Talo talaga dapat ang Indonesian. Nagreremedyo lang ang referee. Dalawang beses pinakita sa doctor ang tama sa ilong upang makapag pahinga ang Indonesian boxer,” said Bolcio’s corner Eric Santig of Highland Boxing Gym from La Trinidad, Benguet.
“Pangatlo yung cut sa kilay na ginawa na lang na technical decision,” added Santig.
Palulu was leading on points from all the three Indonesian judges.
The 26-year old Palulu now has 18 wins with 12 knockouts and two losses and one draw while Bolcio, 27, a former Luzproba champion from Highland Boxing Gym Benguet dropped to 14 wins, 13 losses and 3 draws with 4 KOs.
Meanwhile, WBC International Silver light flyweight champion Tibo Monabesa retained his title after his title after settling to a technical draw with Filipino challenger Arnold Garde of Davao City.
Referee Eric Suwarno stopped the fight in 2:22 of the 4th round.
The double championship card was promoted by Armin Tan with Syarifudin Lado and Mikko Marttinen as the matchmakers.
Monabesa earlier won the vacant WBC International Silver light weight title via a unanimous decision against another Filipino Rene Patilano last January 21 in Jakarta.
