YOUTHFUL Vince “J-Vince” Paras of General Santos City knocked down Jimboy Haya of Omega Gym in the second round en route to a unanimous decision victory and captured the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific Youth light flyweight title last June 10 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex in Mandaue City.
The 18-year old Paras, who turned pro at the young age of 16, dominated the 10-round championship refereed by Danrex Tapdasan.
All three judges – Salven Lagumbay, Edgar Olalo and Edward Ligas – scored identical 96-93 for Paras.
The 18-year old Paras, who is managed by Maasim Mayor Jojo Lopez from Sarangani Province, remained unbeaten with 11 straight wins and nine knockouts.
Haya, 22, a native of Bukidnon suffered his 4th defeat against 10 wins and 2 draws.
Before he fought Haya, Paras knocked out all his last six opponents – Briel Ozaraga, Jhonny Belo, Mervin Lulu, Brobro Languido, Jeffrey Alejandre and Michael Camelion.
Paras is considered as one of the most promising young boxers in Gensan today.
