UFC 210 has received a trio of new matchups, including a light heavyweight tilt between Patrick Cummins and Jan Blachowicz.
The UFC’s first event in Buffalo, New York since 1995 has just received three new matchups. UFC officials recently announced that Patrick Cummins will face Jan Blachowicz in a light heavyweight matchup, Shane Burgos will take on Charles Rosa at featherweight, while Irene Aldana will battle Katlyn Chookagian in a women’s bantamweight showdown.
Cummins (8-4) has lost his last two, having suffered TKOs to both Glover Teixeira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. He was scheduled to fight Gian Villante last month in Albany, but pulled out with a staph infection. Cummins’ last win was a TKO stoppage of Rafael Cavalcante in August 2015. Blachowicz (19-6) has lost three of his last four, although his recent unanimous decision loss vs. Alexander Gustafsson was certainly more competitive than expected. Preceding the Gustafsson loss was a unanimous decision nod over Igor Pokrajac in April.
Burgos (8-0) made his Octagon debut at UFC Albany, winning a unanimous decision over Tiago Trator. He also had his haircut done in between rounds, which certainly was one of the more notable moments on that card. Rosa (11-2) has been out of action since January 2016, when he defeated Kyle Bochniak by unanimous decision in Boston. He most notably had a Fight of the Night decision loss vs. Yair Rodriguez at UFC 188.
Aldana (7-3) made her UFC debut last month at UFC on FOX 22, but wound up losing a unanimous decision to Leslie Smith. She’d competed for the Invicta FC bantamweight title in 2015, losing to Tonya Evinger by third-round TKO. Meanwhile, Chookagian (8-1) is looking to rebound from the first pro loss of her career, a split decision vs. Liz Carmouche at UFC 205. Her first UFC appearance was last July, when she bested Lauren Murphy by unanimous decision.
UFC 210 is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between current belt holder Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. The pay-per-view event will take place on Saturday, April 8th at the KeyBank Center.
