Currently on the longest winning streak of his Bellator career, Patricky Freire could be on his way to a five-fight stretch if he defeats up-and-comer Ryan Scope at Bellator Newcastle’s main event, in England. In the confident Brazilian’s eyes, it will be another quick knockout win for himself.

With wins over Josh Thomson, Benson Henderson, Derek Campos and Roger Huerta in his last appearances, there’s only thing Freire would like now — a rematch with the last man to beat him and current lightweight champion, Michael Chandler. ‘Pitbull’ feels like he already earned this shot, but tells Bloody Elbow he has a feeling his wish won’t come true just yet.

“I’m almost sure Bellator is trying to avoid that fight, but I don’t know why. Maybe they want to keep him longer as the champion. Everybody is talking about how much I evolved since my fight with Chandler, and I know Bellator is, too. I’m a good place in my career right now and I might ruin their plans if they match me up with Chandler.

“I don’t know, but that’s what I think since it’s taking them so long to book the fight. I don’t know if they’re waiting for him to lose. I won’t, I’m certain of that. I’ll be much sharper for this fight. I’ll be ready for another battle. I’m sure it’ll be another great fight and I’ll score another great win.”

However, before he can chase after Michael Chandler again, Freire will have to take care of rising prospect Ryan Scope, who’ll be fighting in his home country of England and sports an impressive 10-1 record at 26 years of age. For Patricky, though, the numbers or the home advantage hardly matter, since he predicts another early knockout win.

“Ryan Scope is at the beggining of this career, but he’s rising. I’m also growing and I’ll going in that direction. I’ll knock him out, you can write that down. It’s going to be another quick win. He’ll fight at home, with the crowd on his side, but every chant I hear in my fights motivate me. Everytime I fight at my opponent’s home, I walk out victorious. It won’t be different now.”

Patricky Freire is expected to take on Ryan Scope at Bellator Newcastle, in Newcastle, England, on February 9.
