Bellator is kicking off an exclusive fight series in Europe with an event in Newcastle, England, on Feb. 9, and the event will be headlined by Brazilian knockout artist Patricky Freire and former BAMMA champion Ryan Scope.
The fight card, scheduled for Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena, will feature British reality TV star Aaron Chalmers against a yet-to-be-defined opponent in the co-main event.
Freire (20-8) won four in a row over the past two years, finishing Josh Thomson, Derek Camposand Roger Huerta by knockout. One of the most experienced fighters inside the Bellator cage, “Pitbull” also holds a decision victory over former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson.
Scope (11-1) finally makes his Bellator debut 14 months after capturing the BAMMA lightweight gold with a win over UFC veteran Mickael Lebout at the same venue in Newcastle in December 2017. Scope has only went the distance three times in his professional career.
In the co-main event, Chalmers steps back inside the Bellator cage after making quick work of Ashley Griffiths in his debut at Bellator 200 in May. “The Joker”, 4-0 as a professional fighter, beat three opponents under the BAMMA banner in 2017 before signing a deal with Bellator.
