Irish fan favorite Paul Redmond welcomes a transatlantic name to the Bellator Dublin event on Sept. 27 when he takes on promotional veteran Brandon Girtz at 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Bellator announced the fight via its social media channels in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Redmond (15-7-0) recorded his second win in as many outings under the Bellator banner when he scored a unanimous decision win over Charlie Leary at Bellator 217 in February.
Ahead of the event, fans were vocal in demanding that the Team Ryano fighter get a slot on the event’s main card. However, the fight was placed on the preliminary portion of the card. The win over Leary saw “Redser” get back to winning ways after suffering a first-round loss in a pivotal KSW bout against prospect Gracjan Szadzinski.
Girtz (16-8-0) is a 14-fight Bellator veteran. He currently boasts an 8-6 record with the promotion. Following a first-round submission loss to Michael Chandler in April last year, Girtz got back into the win column with a decision nod over Saad Awad at Bellator 219. Girtz boasts notable wins over Melvin Guillard and Derek Campos.
