Two PBC cards and world title fights in Mexico and Thailand highlight the week in boxing.

Tuesday, June 28

FS1, 9:00 p.m. ET, Edner Cherry vs Lydell Rhodes, Omar Douglas vs Alexei Collado. A pretty solid FS1 doubleheader, with Cherry, a veteran contender coming off of a disputed loss to Jose Pedraza in a world title fight, facing Rhodes, a prospect rapidly losing steam who needs a win badly. Rhodes drew with Jared Robinson last June, then followed that with a loss to Sergey Lipinets. But a win here and he’s in the mix. Douglas-Collado is a matchup of somewhat shaky prospects, but well-matched. Douglas is coming off of a majority decision win over Frank de Alba, while Collado was off almost two years following a 2014 loss to Rod Salka, returning in February with a club win in the Dominican Republic. Basically, everyone here badly needs the win, and nobody is matched easy. BLH will have live coverage.

Wednesday, June 29

Channel 7 (THA), 2:45 a.m. ET, Byron Rojas vs Knockout CP Freshmart. Rojas went to South Africa in March and upset Hekkie Budler to win the WBA 105-pound title, and now he goes to Thailand for his first defense against Knockout CP Freshmart, a strong young contender with a pair of wins over Carlos Buitagro. It’s a good fight and hopefully we’ll be able to do live coverage, which we should. BLH will have live coverage.

Friday, July 1

Estrella TV / RingTVLive.com, 10:00 p.m. ET, Oscar Negrete vs Jose Bustos, Emilio Sanchez vs TBA, Niko Valdes vs TBA. A substandard card for this series, to be honest, but Negrete, Sanchez, and Valdes are all prospects worth watching. We will have a live stream, but may not have live coverage. BLH will have a live stream of the show.

Saturday, July 2

ESPN, 9:00 p.m. ET, Jamel Herring vs Denis Shafikov, Patryk Szymanski vs Wilky Campfort. Herring-Shafikov is a good matchup of a prospect who wants to take the next step in Herring, and a two-time world title challenger whose only losses have come to Miguel Vazquez and Rances Barthelemy, so top-level competition. Herring will have some physical advantages, but Shafikov is a good, solid fighter. The co-feature will be a look at Szymanski, a young junior middleweight prospect from Poland. BLH will have live coverage.

Televisa, 11:00 p.m. ET, Ganigan Lopez vs Jonathan Taconing, Pedro Guevara vs Ruben Montoya. Lopez is defending the WBC 108-pound against Taconing, a contender from the Philippines. Mexico-Philippines has really become quite a strong boxing rivalry in the last decade and change.
