Erickson Lubin stayed perfect as a pro tonight, beating Daniel Sandoval by third round TKO.
Top junior middleweight prospect Erickson Lubin got in some work tonight in Chicago, stopping Mexico’s Daniel Sandoval in the third round of a PBC on NBC fight at the UIC Pavilion.
Lubin (15-0, 11 KO) looked sharp and strong here, fighting patiently, not making mistakes, and taking what Sandoval (38-4, 35 KO) gave him. Sandoval tried to find the range with his jab, but never really got anything going, as Lubin hammered him to the body and head, eventually hurting him with a good body shot late in the third round, and then finishing Sandoval off. Sandoval did not go down, but the referee stopped it at 2:36 anyway.
Lubin landed 50% of his total punches, connecting on 80 of 161, compared to 43 of 203 (21%) for Sandoval.
Lubin will probably stay at this level for a couple more fights, but the 20-year-old is clearly on the rise, and if you haven’t been paying attention to him yet, you might want to start. He’s a legit talent and prospect, and he’s continuing to show improvement.
