PBC on Spike Results: Freddy Hernandez beats Alfredo Angulo by unanimous decision

Alfredo Angulo looked downright awful tonight, with Freddy Hernandez effective enough box his way to a decisive victory.

Freddy Hernandez did what he had to do tonight and beat Alfredo Angulo en-route to a unanimous decision victory on scores of 98-92, 97-93, 97-93. Not to take anything away from Hernandez’s win, but Angulo looked every bit of a shopworn fighter that’s been in one too many wars. His speed, accuracy, and reflexes were noticeably bad as he resorted to trying to land hail mary punches – but just wasn’t able to land enough.

Angulo did manage to make his presence felt halfway through the fight when he cut Hernandez over his left eye badly. That temporarily took Hernandez out of his box and move game plan, but Hernandez did manage to compose himself and took back control of the fight about a round or two later. Angulo couldn’t cope with any movement in the ring, which really highlighted his limitations as a fighter, particularly at this late stage of his career.

As I see it, this has to be the last we see of Angulo inside the ring, particularly in a televised fight. But for now, Freddy Henandez has a win and moves on to the next step of his career.
