Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai Is Confident Of A KO In Bangkok

Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai (156-33-2) is living the dream.

The two-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion made a successful ONE Super Series debut in June, and he plans to build upon his momentum on Saturday, 6 October.

At ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES, he is set to face promotional newcomer Alaverdi “Dagger” Ramazanov (57-3) in a Muay Thai bantamweight contest at Bangkok, Thailand’s Impact Arena.

“Fighting for ONE has been like a dream for me, and getting to fight in Thailand makes it that much better,” the 24-year-old Thai says. “I will not disappoint.”

Ramazanov, originally from Russia, has been training out of Venum Training Camp in Pattaya, Thailand.

The 23-year-old powerhouse is a three-time IFMA World Champion who competes on the Thai circuit, including regular appearances on the televised promotion, MAX Muay Thai.

Petchmorrakot, however, boasts a record with more than three times as many bouts from a career that has spanned more than a decade already.

With such a vast amount of experience, he is a picture of composure in the ring, and there should be no surprises for the athlete who grew up competing up to five times in a single week.

The fact that this is his first bout wearing 4-ounce gloves is the only thing that seems to make Petchmorrakot pause for thought, but he expects to take this unfamiliar factor in his stride.

“He is a well-rounded fighter, but I am going into this fight very relaxed,” he says. “The mixed martial arts gloves worry me a bit, but I am confident in my abilities.”

Ramazanov is a strong puncher who is known for his speed and evasive techniques, but despite his decorated martial arts career in Russia, this will be a massive step up in competition for him.

Petchmorrakot trains full-time out of the Petchyindee Academy, which is notorious for producing formidable athletes.

With the added advantage of being able to concentrate exclusively on his in-ring career, the Thai is a daunting opponent for any competitor.

“I just eat, sleep, and train,” he says. “It is easy for me to focus.”

Once a boy who dug up crabs to help feed his family, the Thai is taking his opportunities in the world’s largest martial arts organization very seriously.

In June, the Thai made a momentous debut when he scored a second-round TKO over his former training partner Fabrice Fairtex Delannon at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER.

Petchmorrakot is aiming to build on that success this weekend in Thailand, and he is looking for a highlight-reel finish.

“ONE Championship has changed my life,” he says. “I will win by KO in Bangkok, either by elbow or body kick. I don’t know for sure, but I will do it.”
