Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai Wins Via Second-Round TKO In Macau

Two-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai may have had his ONE Super Series debut cut short, but he proved how dangerous he could be with a sample size offering.

On Saturday, 23 June, the Bangkok, Thailand resident defeated three-time MAX Muay Thai World Champion Fabrice Fairtex Delannon in their Muay Thai clash at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER.

The 24-year-old stopped the French Guianese striker just 43 seconds into the second round, after a ringside physician declared Delannon unfit to continue.

It was apparent from the very beginning that the two competitors knew each other quite well. They mirrored one another’s striking methods many times during the opening stanza, and cancelled the other out by throwing the same technique at the same time.

The Thai gained an edge, however. He connected more effectively, and consistently, with his push kicks throughout the frame. Also, he caught Delannon with a head kick, and even dumped him to the canvas.

Delannon quickly turned up the heat in round two. The 36-year-old threw leg kicks, knees, and elbows, and then returned the favor by dumping his former training partner to the ground.

Petchmorrakot responded by getting up, faking the push kick, and stepping forward with a left elbow, which cut the French Guianese striker near his eye.

The two briefly engaged in a clinch until the referee halted the action. He had the ringside physician check the wound and, with a priority on athlete safety, deemed Delannon unable to continue in the match-up.

With the victory, Petchmorrakot moves his record to 156-33-2, and earns his first promotional victory on the global stage for martial arts.

Though Delannon takes a loss and sees his record dip to 55-10, he showed incredible talent and skill. Like Petchmorrakot, he will undoubtedly be back in ONE Super Series soon.
