PFL MMA

The first week of the first-ever Professional Fighters League playoffs are here. There are six weight classes where the winners of those eight-man tournaments will pocket $1 million, and the action starts tonight (Friday, October 5th) from New Orleans, Louisiana.

PFL 8 is all about the featherweight and heavyweight tournaments. Francimar Barroso is the #1 seed at HW, and he’ll be taking on #8 seed Josh Copeland. At featherweight, Steven Siler is the top seed and will fight Nazareno Malegarie. To make things more interesting, the quarterfinals and semifinals are on the same night, with the quarterfinals scheduled for two-rounds and the semifinals are three-rounds. In the event of a draw in the quarterfinals, the tiebreaker is whichever fighter won the first-round. Full tiebreaker rules can be seen here.

You can watch PFL 8 at 7:30 PM ET on Facebook Watch, where the bulk of the action is taking place, followed by the semifinal bouts on the NBC Sports Network main card at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT. For an event preview, check out Victor Rodriguez’s write-up.
