FILIPINO featherweight Eugene “Rambo” Lagos lost his first fight in the United States by a unanimous decision against Mexican-American Ray Ximenez last February 9 at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas.
“But it was a good fight,” said Lagos’ new handler Rey “Cacoi” Rodis II of the RED International Boxing.
All three judges scored in favor of Ximenez – Jesse Reyes (78-74), Oren Shellenberger (78-74) and Don Griffin (79-73).
The fight was promoted by Roy Jones Jr. and Keith Veltre and was shown on US Bein Sports TV.
The 25-yar old Ximenez improved his record to 17 wins with four knockouts and only one defeat while the 22-year old Lagos, a native of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat suffered his 5th loss against 12 wins with 7 knockouts and two draws.
The other results in the card, super featherweight Edward Vasquez won his 5th straight win by beating previously unbeaten Brandon Arvie while super flyweight Dominique Griffin defeated David Alfaro.(LITO DELOS REYES)
