DAVAO CITY — Current International Boxing Federation North American super bantamweight champion “Magic” Mike Plania of Gen. Santos City will face World Boxing Organization world bantamweight no. 1 ranked contender Joshua Greer on June 16 in a closed-door event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bout will be a non-title fight at a catchweight of 120 pounds.
Plania (23-1-0, 12 KO) will be the first Filipino who will participate in a major sporting event since the Coronavirus pandemic began. Plania has been in Miami, Florida since the lockdown has started together with four other Filipino boxers.
In his last fight, Plania won the vacant IBF North American super bantamweight title by beating Giovanni “BabyFace” Gutierrez of Nicaragua by a unanimous decision last Dec. 21 in Miami.
