World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson has requested permission from the WBC to delay his mandatory fight against Eleider Alvarez, for a deja vu contest.
Stevenson revealed that he will defend his crown against Poland’s Andrzej Fonfara, on June 3 in Canada. They fought in May 2014 at the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, and Stevenson got the victory by decision in a thrilling fight.
Since losing to Stevenson, Fonfara has notched some excellent wins over Nathan Cleverly, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and more recently Chad Dawson, but suffered a surprise knockout at the hands of Joe Smith Jr. in June last year
