PANABO CITY (SEPT 14) – Former Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MinPROBA) champions Glenn “The Rock” Porras and Dindong “The Fantasy Warrior” Quinones both made their weights today for their much-awaited championship fight tomorrow (Sept. 15) at the Antonio R. Floirendo Gym here.
Porras, a former MinPROBA bantamweight champion, and Quinones, a former super flyweight title-holder, both tipped the scales at 121 lbs.
They will be fighting for the vacant MinPROBA super bantamweight title according to MinPROBA supervisor Lito delos Reyes.
“Sa tingin ko kaya ko siyang ma-knockout,” said Porras (29W-6L-0D, 17 KOs), who is also a former WBO Asia Pacific Youth and Philippine bantamweight champion.
Quinones, on the other hand, said that he is ready to fight Porras, who is now under the MB Northstar Boxing Promotion based in Panabo City.
“Naka-ensayo pud ko aning laban kay Porras,” said Quinones (6W-18L-1D, 4 KOs), a native of General Santos City.
The Porras-Quinones title-fight is the main event of “The Redemption: Clash of Champions” boxing presentation of the MB Northstar Boxing Promotions.
Engr. Jilson Basang is the promoter while Engr. Ricardo “Bong” Javier is the matchmaker.
Meanwhile, Michael “Chieftain” Bravo also of MB Northstar submitted 114 lbs. while his opponent Armando Yee of Gensan had 115 lbs. for their battle for the vacant MinPROBA super flyweight crown.
