Greg Leon: Congrats on your victory over Alexander Charneco (4-5) last night, can you give us some thoughts on your performance?
Richardson Hitchins:”I feel like it was a good performance. I executed it the way the coaches wanted me to. I came out fast and I went to the body to get him out of there.”
GL: It’s funny because your first two six rounders have ended earlier than your fours. I know you don’t get paid by the round, but are you hoping you’re soon facing somebody that’s able to last the six or will be more durable?
RH: “Definitely. My next fight hopefully goes the full six rounds. It’s funny because when you get the knockout they say well he still hasn’t gone the whole six, but then when you don’t get the knockout they want you to get them out of there. Hopefully the next one lasts a little longer, but it’s like you said I don’t get paid for overtime.”
GL: What was it like being on such a major event?
RH: “It was huge. The best experience for me all night was being in the back with Tank while he was getting ready and just seeing how it is when you’re getting ready to fight for a world title. Watching the focus that you need to have in a big fight and it was a great thing for me to be in that moment. I think Tank did a great job last night, he took care of business. I think Broner put on a great show and I hope they do that rematch. It was just an unbelieveable night of boxing.
GL: What did you think about the Broner-Vargas fight?
RH: “I thought it was a draw. I think Broner stood in front of him too long and I think he could have let his hands go a little bit more. He was just throwing one or two punches at a time and fighting in spurts. I feel like if he would have pushed it just a little bit more he would have come out with the victory, probably even a knockout.”
GL: What’s next for you? When can we expect you back in action?
RH: “I’m hoping to be back in June in Las Vegas on the J’Leon Love card. I’m looking to stay real busy and I’m looking forward to fighting in Vegas. It’s going to be a different experience for me, but my whole main thing is just to stay more active. I’m going to take a little break, but I’m going to be back really soon though.”
GL: Closing thoughts for the fans?
RH: “I want everyone to follow me on the gram @RichardsonHitchins and on twitter @heisrichardson. Keep looking out for me I’m going to keep putting this work in, keep looking out for me and I’m going to keep on saying it, I fight for y’all.”
