Preview – PFL 2018 Week #4: Palmer vs Tuerxun, live from Nassau Coliseum

Bloodyelbow.com

The season doesn’t stop.

PFL returns on Thursday, July 19th at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York for more MMA action, with some very quick turnarounds as most fighters on this card have already competed in previous events.

Main spot goes to former World Series Of Fighting champion Lance Palmer (13-3) takes on former UFC fighter Jumabieke Tuerxun (20-7-1). Anyone that has seen either of these fighters knows what to expect. Tuerxun continues to struggle with his speed and wrestling limitations, while Palmer continues to be as talented as ever.

Andre Harrison (18-0) aims to stay undefeated against Nazareno Malegarie (35-4), who hasn’t faced a fighter with a strong wrestling base since Rad Martinez in 2012. While still a durable and clever veteran with submission savvy, he’ll have his hands full with Harrison’s speed, strength and overall technique.

Former UFC fighter Steven Siler (30-17) takes on the rangy and crafty Alexandre de Almeida (19-7), another former WSOF champ. Siler brings his lethal ground game and scrambles against de Almeida’s snappy Muay Thai game. Former UFC fighter Alex Nicholson (12-5) attempts to make it three in a row since his UFC release against former Bellator fighter Philipe Lins (10-3), who is coming off two straight losses due to strikes. Lins was a very bright prospect off the Brazilian scene that got some very impressive finishes in Bellator until he tore his knee ligaments in a fight against Kelly Anundsen in 2014. He looks to claw his way back to the win column and make waves in the current season for PFL.

UFC veteran Jared Rosholt (16-4) will bring his grinding game against lethal striker Kelvin Tiller (9-1). Former Bellator champ Marcos Galvão (18-10-1) faces Germany’s Max Coga (19-5) after his decision loss to the aforementioned Nazareno Malegarie last month. Coga is coming off a loss himself, as he suffered a decision loss to Timur Valiev in his last outing.

Finally, former UFC and WSOF fighter Josh Copeland (16-5) steps in to rebound form a TKO loss to Jack May as he steps in against former UFC fighter Shawn Jordan (19-8). This is Jordan’s first fight since his fight against Blagoy Ivanov in March of last year, as a fight against Mike Kyle was cancelled due to Kyle getting injured last month. A proposed fight with replacement opponent for that same event against Philipe Lins was scrapped when Jordan missed weight at the heavyweight limit. Yes, you read that correctly.

Carl Deaton III was set to fight Bekbulat Magomedov (19-3), but missed weight. Darrick Minner was set to fight Timur Valiev (13-2), and also missed weight. Both fighters are now off the card, and Valiev will be fighting Magomedov instead.
