Puerto Rican prospect Yomar ‘The Magic’ Alamo (13-0, 10KO’s) will contest   the World Boxing Council youth super-lightweight  against Hungarian Zsigmond Vass (13-5, 2KO’s) as part of a card  presented by Tiger Promotions on Saturday, August 19 at the Samuel ‘Sammy’ Rodríguez Coliseum in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico.

Alamo comes from defeating Juan Carlos Contreras on home turf; While Zsigmond beat his compatriot David Kis in a bout held in Budapest in April.

This will be an  historic fight, as it will be the first time a WBC Youth World Title is being contested n Puerto Rico.

The goal of the World Boxing Council in developing the World Youth Championship is to open opportunities for young prospects to be recognized as champions in their divisions in this fledgling but prestigious category.  Sometimes the careers of young pugilists are put in jeopardy or even ruined, because they come to face rivals with more age, maturity and experience, being defeated.  So this title is a stepping  before contesting for the world crown gem.

The WBC Youth World Championship, whose age limit for being contested is 23 years and 11 months, has produced truly great results since its inception in 1999. The world champions who  were crowned WBC Youth champions are:

Samuel Peter, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, Chad Dawson, Julio César Chávez Jr., Saúl Álvarez, Kermit Cintron, Timothy Bradley, Danny García, Juan Díaz, Mike Anchondo, Jose Pedraza, Humberto Soto, Rodolfo López, Daniel Ponce De León, Tomoki Kameda, Leo Santa Cruz, Diego Morales, Ivan Hernandez, Dimitri Kirilov, Brian Viloria, Jorge Arce, Moisés Fuentes, Roberto Leyva, Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Wanheng Menayothin.
