PUMICPIC FIGHTS AMAGASA FOR VACANT WBO ASIA PACIFIC FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE IN JAPAN SEPT. 29

Richard Pumicpic of the Philippines and Hisashi Amagasa of Japan will battle for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title on Sept. 29.

FILIPINO pug Richard “”The Beast” Pumicpic battles Hisashi Amagasa for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title on Sept. 29 at the Korakuen Hall in Japan.
Pumicpic (19W-8L-2D, 6 KOs) is coming from a majority decision win against Roli Gasca held March 19 at the Makati Square Boxing Arena.
The 27-year old Pumicpic captured the vacant WBC International super bantamweight title by a technical decision on Joe Noynay last year at the SM Mall of Asia.
Pumicpic, also a former Philippine bantamweight title-holder, won the vacant WBC Youth Silver bantamweight title by a unanimous decision against Nattaphong Panpaew in Thailand in 2012.
The 31-year old Amagasa, on the other hand, has won his last three fights including a knockout victory against Surasit Klinkason previously held June 19 also at Korakuen Hall.
Amagasa fought but lost for the WBO world and WBA Super world super bantamweight title by retirement to the unbeaten Guillermo Rigondeaux in 2014.
Amagasa is also a former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) featherweight title-holder from 2013 to 2014. He is also a former Japanese featherweight champion (2011-2013).
Amagasa bowed to WBC International featherweight champion Josh Warrington by a unanimous decision in their championship fight last year.
