Astute, popular and dedicated Promoter Ricardo Maldonado announces the start of the “Puños de Oro” tournament, aiming to discover and boost the exceptional talent of hundreds of young people who dream of being stars.
Ricardo Maldonado explained that this will be the first national tournament of prospects, as 64 young fighters with hunger for victory and focused on being the next legends, crowned as champions of this first edition of the tournament.
The competition will be divided into four traditional divisions: bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight and will host one of the most representative and iconic places in Mexico City, the Fronton Mexico, which opened in 1929.
The tournament will start this Friday, May 18, with 15 dates in an opening event of 16 bouts, quarterfinal, semifinal and final, concluding the month of October.
Excited and grateful for the response of the young people, Ricardo stressed this will be an international platform from which new boxing idols will emerge.
He announced that the prizes for the winners will be extremely attractive, since the first place will take 50 thousand pesos, the second 20 thousand and both the opportunity to contest for the WBC youth title.
At this point one of the main sponsors, Jorge Ojeda, from Aries, announced that the winners will be creditors to a land of great commercial value.
Finally, he thanked the support of the World Boxing Council and the Boxing Commission of the CDMX as well as the sponsorship of Aries, Huawei, Águila beer and ADX, who will be in charge of the uniform and team of all the participants.
