Tonight at 10 pm ET on ESPN2, Golden Boy Promotions debut their new ESPN series with a middleweight main event, pitting prospect Jason Quigley against Glen Tapia in a 10-round fight.
Quigley (12-0, 10 KO) is a potential rising star in the division, an Irishman based in the United States who passed on possible amateur glory in order to turn pro a couple of years ago. He’s now starting to take on more substantial names, but there is a question of Tapia (23-3, 15 KO), at just 27, being shot or not. He’s lost two straight to Michel Soro and David Lemieux, both by TKO-4, and hasn’t won a fight since March 2015, when he beat Daniel Dawson.
Also on the card tonight will be former bantamweight titleholder Randy Caballero (23-0, 14 KO), as he looks to position himself for a possible super bantamweight title bout in the future. He’ll be facing Jesus Ruiz (36-7-5, 25 KO) in another 10-round fight.
Former U.S. Olympian and 2012 flyweight bronze medalist Marlen Esparza will be making her pro debut on this show, too. She’ll be facing Rachel Sazoff, a fighter with an 0-2 pro record.
