Ramirez and Orozco polite before the fight

By WBCboxing.com

There was mutual respect instead of insults,  at the final press conference held in Fresno, California, for this Friday’s card in which Jose Ramirez will defend his super light World Boxing Council title against Antonio Orozco, at the Save Mart Center (ESPN, 10 pm ET / 7 pm PST).

It is expected that more than 14,000 fans will see Ramirez defend his world title for the first time against the undefeated Orozco.

This is what the fighters had to say:

JOSÉ RAMÍREZ:

“It’s definitely a dream come true to come home as a world champion, to be able to offer world championship fights and be part of the fights for the world championship here in central California.  I’m very happy to bring this kind of entertainment to this area, to the fans who deserve it. ”

About his new coach, Robert Garcia

“It’s great. I’ve known Robert since my amateur days  and he’s followed my career from the very beginning. He’s seen a lot of good and positive things in me. I hope to continue to impress with world class coach Robert Garcia.”

“Antonio is a very active fighter in the ring, he is a fighter who puts a lot of pressure like me, and I am more than happy to face fighters like him.  I think Antonio is one of the best in the division.”

ANTONIO OROZCO

“I’m ready! This is the opportunity all fighters want to reach, and mine has come at the right time. Things happen for a reason.  I’m here in Fresno in front of a great champion. I’m ready…so that’s all I can tell you.

“Fresno is great, it’s hot, and I think it’s going to heat up more inside the ring. The  person in front of me is going to be José Ramirez, and he’s my only focus right now.”
