‘Rampage’ Jackson leads Bellator 206 payroll with $300,000 guaranteed

SAN JOSE, Calif. — It was a good night for “Rampage.”

Quinton Jackson defeated Wanderlei Silva by second-round TKO in the co-main event of Bellator 206 — and took home a guaranteed $300,000 to do it. That figure led the card’s payroll. The information comes from a document obtained by MMA Fighting from the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

Jackson and Silva fought three times previously, with Silva winning the first two times by knockout. Now, the series is even at two wins apiece. Silva made a guaranteed $200,000 for the fourth bout, which took place at heavyweight.

In the main event, both Gegard Mousasi and Rory MacDonald each earned a guaranteed $150,000 for their middleweight title fight. Mousasi won by second-round TKO in the superfight. MacDonald, the Bellator welterweight champion, was moving up to challenge for the 185-pound belt.

Also on the card, Douglas Lima took home a guaranteed $130,000 for his fifth-round submission win over Andrey Koreshkov in the first round of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. Both Lima and Koreskhov are former Bellator welterweight champions and were 1-1 against one another coming in. Koreshkov made $55,000 guaranteed and would have doubled that sum had he won.

Aaron Pico, the 22-year-old blue-chip prospect, made $40,000 to show and another $40,000 with his first-round TKO win over Leandro Higo. Higo took home $14,000 guaranteed.
