Ray Borg won’t be fighting Brandon Moreno after all.

The UFC flyweight contender has once again been forced to withdraw from a bout with Moreno as he takes care of his infant child Anthony, who recently underwent a pair of surgeries for Hydrocephalus, a brain condition. Sources confirmed the news with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.

Borg has been active on social media providing updates on the status of his son’s health:

Anybody who complains about how hard life is, or cries about not getting the new I phone or new x box etc. I encourage you or some one you know to spend 24 hours in a children’s hospital. You will realize quickly how good you have it compared to these children.

Thank you to everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers during this time and much thank you to the Children’s hospital of Colorado and all of their staff. Anthony’s surgery was a success. 🙏🏼

Unfortunately Anthony needs to go back into surgery. The shunt was placed in a spot of his brain that just doesn’t quite work for him. Due to the high possibility of failure of the shunt the doctor ordered to have him back in the operating room for replacement of the shunt. 🙏🏼

This was the third time that Borg and Moreno had been scheduled to fight. The two were supposed to meet at UFC 223 on April 7 in Brooklyn, but Borg was removed from the card in the wake of Conor McGregor’s chaotic appearance at the Barclays Center. The UFC lightweight champion attacked a bus that was transporting his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, shattering a window with a thrown dolly, resulting in glass particles entering Borg’s eye.

Borg was later ruled medically unfit to compete. His bout with Moreno was rescheduled for the May 19 show in Santiago, Chile, but officials will now have to seek a replacement to keep Moreno on the card.

The first meeting between Borg and Moreno, planned for UFC Austin in February, was spoiled by an injury to Moreno.
