DAVAO CITY — The official weigh-in of “The Redemption: Clash of Champions” boxing event will be held tomorrow (Sept. 14) at 10 a.m. at the lobby of the Panabo City Hall.
The fights on Sept. 15, Friday will start at 5 p.m. at the Panabo City Park gym.
“Everything is all set for this double boxing championship event,” said promoter Engr. Jilson Basang of MB Northstar Promotions.
Pitted in the main event is a non-title bout between Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) lightweight champion Rosekie “Kapre” Cristobal (13-2-0, 10 KOs) of North Cotabato and Jovany Rota (9-11-0, 6 KOs) of Bukidnon.
Former Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MinPROBA) champions Glenn “The Rock” Porras (29–0, 17 KOs) of Pres. Roxas and Dingdong “The Fantasy Warrior” Quinones (6-18-1, 4 KOs) of Gen. Santos City will battle it out for the vacant MinPROBA super bantamweight crown.
Porras and Quinones are former bantamweight and super flyweight champions, respectively.
“This is really a battle of champions,” said matchmaker Engr. Ricardo “Bong” Javier.
The other title-fight is for the vacant MinPROBA light flyweight crown between Michael “Chieftain” Bravo (11-1-0, 4 KOs) of Kidapawan and Armando Yee (2-10-4, 1 KO) of Gen. Santos City.
Cristobal, Porras and Bravo are now all fighting under the MB Northstar Promotion based in Panabo City.
The boxing event is supported by the Panabo City Government in coordination with the Barangay Council of JP Laurel. It is supported by JBRJ Construction, PS Solutions of Ralph Peterson and Nature’s Spring Water.
