California-based MMA promotion, Tachi Palace Fights, hosted one of the worst referee stoppages in the sport’s history last night at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore.
The dangerously late stoppage came from referee Jason McCoy, who didn’t realize that Castle Williams had been choked unconscious until several seconds after his left arm went limp at TPF 30.
It took around 20 seconds for McCoy to intervene and stop the fight, after the official finally realized that Williams was not responding.
The victor, featherweight local Sergio Quinones, choked his opponent out with a brabo choke in the first round. ‘The Outlaw’ sports a record of 11-18 and has been competing in mostly regional shows since he made his professional debut in 2007.
Williams, who made his pro MMA debut almost three years ago, has been competing under the TPF banner since 2014 and has won three but lost two. There have been no reports on his medical health since losing on Thursday.
